Follow safe workplace practices, and contribute to a health and safety culture, in a BCATS environment
Students are able to follow safe workplace practices and contribute to a health and safety culture, in BCATS environments.
The purpose of secondary school students completing a Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) it is not to make them wholly responsible for safety on a site but to grow their understanding, as per the explanation in the student handbook.
In response to teacher feedback, and with Site Safe’s permission, BCITO has developed a shorter version of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP). This is an option for satisfying one of the requirements of US 29677, Follow safe workplace practices, and contribute to a health and safety culture, in a BCATS environment.
We strongly encourage students to have a look at the full SSSP on Site Safe’s website. You may wish to note that the guide to completing an SSSP is also on that site, and includes an explanation of the acronyms used in even the truncated version.
Students are expected to comply with the full SSSP applicable to the site they’re working on.
Note: The pdf and Word version are the same but the latter may be helpful should teachers wish their students to complete it digitally.
